Hello Parents and Players!
My name is Garrett Hillstrom and I will be your manager for the upcoming GFBLL t-ball season with the Red Sox. I’m excited to start playing!
Communication: Primarily you'll hear from me via this email address. My cell is 540-497-0358 should you need to chat or text. I encourage you to go to the www.gfbll.com page as well for other info (e.g. schedule, rosters, etc.) and to download the SI Play app from there.
Please pass me a cell number or post it on your profile in case there are last minute changes to games or practices that you'll need to get notified about. Also, please let me know when your player will not be able to make a practice or game.
Practices: Practices will be every Thursday from 6:30-7:30pm at Taylor Middle School (350 E. Shirley Ave Warrenton, VA). Our first practice is 19 March.
Gear: The league will provide hats and jerseys. Please ensure your player has white pants and red socks for our games. Our first game will be Saturday, 28 March.
I encourage you to have your own helmet but the league has provided some. For all practices and games, your player should have a hat. If you're purchasing a bat, please be sure it has the USA logo on it, otherwise the league will not allow it. Please make sure your child's glove is broken in so they have a better chance at catching the ball. Dick's and Rankins True Value are two good spots to shop locally.
Required forms: On the GFBLL website under the Documents section there are a host of forms, two of which are required that every player/parent complete: Code of Conduct and Medical Release. Please get these filled out and back to me prior to the first game (I'll have blank ones available at the first practice). Your child will not get issued a uniform unless the league has these in hand before the first game.
Fan/Parent behavior at games – Please keep in mind that this is little league baseball. Our players will learn more from what we model for them than anything else.
Also, I would strongly encourage you not to “coach” your player during a practice or game. During these times, please just keep to cheering and encouraging them.
Sorry for the length. I'm excited! We're going to have a great season! Please don't hesitate to shoot me an email, text, or call if you have any questions or concerns. See you all Tuesday!
Go Red Sox!
